Stainless steel alloy 410 is a general-purpose martensitic stainless steel. It contains 11.5-13.5% chromium, making it corrosion resistant in mild environments. Alloy 410 exhibits high strength and hardness, making it suitable for applications in the automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. It is also commonly used in cutlery and kitchen utensils due to its good combination of hardness and corrosion resistance. However, compared to austenitic stainless steels, it has limited corrosion resistance in highly corrosive environments. Alloy 410 can be heat-treated for further hardness and improved mechanical properties, making it a cost-effective choice for various industrial applications where moderate corrosion resistance and high strength are required.
