First Operational Blanking

Copper and Brass Sales provides first operational blanking as a vital part of what we do within the manufacturing industry. First operational blanking involves cutting flat shapes, known as blanks, from either sheet metal or coil stock. This is typically used to produce blanks with precise dimensions and tight tolerances, which can then be used to create more complex parts with specific shapes and sizes.

Our modern blanking machines are also designed for quick setup and changeovers, which allows for blank shapes and sizes to be switched out efficiently. The standard procedure for the blanking process is as follows:

  1. Material Selection: The suitable metal to undergo the blanking process is chosen.
  2. Uncoiling (Coil or Sheet): If the material is in a coil, the coil gets unraveled, however if it is in a sheet form, it is ready for the next step.
  3. Feeding: The material is now fed into the blanking press, which contains two elements; a punch and a die. The punch is usually shaped to the dimensions of the desired blank form.
  4. Cutting: The punch descends from above onto the metal, cutting through the material and creating the required blank, while the excess material is removed.
  5. Ejection: The newly formed blank is now removed from the die cavity.

Now that you know a bit more about our process and the value we can provide, get started on your process chain and let Copper and Brass Sales produce first operational configured blanks for you. Our blanking lines in coil processing facilities in the US and Mexico provide our customers with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum blanks produced to precise customer and industry-specific requirements.
